This month marked the the very first appearance of the Fetching Market at St. Michael’s Parish. Over 100 unique artisan and food vendors made an appearance, selling everything from antiques to custom jewelry to a strange invention known as a frozen hot chocolate. People by the hundreds made a day out of it, examining the stalls while bands took turns filling the air with their music. And all of this was on one of the hottest days of the year, braving scolding heat and not-so-gentle wind.

But when everything was all said and done, it cannot be denied that the day was a unique and very enjoyable experience. Parishioners and townsfolk joined together for an event we all hope will be making an annual return. Father Marty was even seen perusing the aisles with a smile on his face and an eye for unique finds.

These events are what make both St. Michael’s Parish and the town of Schererville so special. We are excited to be able to come together and start new traditions is an amazing feat. A special thank you to our maintenance staff, office staff, parishioners and school parents for a tremendous team effort and for helping to volunteer your time and talent as your efforts have not gone unnoticed. A special thank you to everyone who attended the event and to Pamela, the Fetching Market organizer, for putting together such an amazing event. We look forward to bringing the market to St. Michael’s Parish again sometime in the near future.
