Home and School Association (HSA)
Our Parent and School Volunteer Service Organization is the Home and School Association (HSA).
As a parent of St. Michael Catholic School you are automatically a member of the Home and School Association. The HSA sponsored events are funded and coordinated by the HSA to benefit the students, faculty, parents and school. Each school family is required to pay dues to support the various activities and events.
The St. Michael Home and School Association is led by a group of parent volunteers who work under the direction of the Principal. The board is a group of dedicated volunteers committed to enhancing the education of our students and promoting a sense of community at St. Michael Catholic School. Board members serve a two year term. To become a member of the board individuals are required to attend discernment meetings that are held annually in March or April. The board generally consists of six to eight members.
The HSA is designed to help connect families with the school by providing support for student and community events, as well as supporting the parish, faculty and staff at St. Michael Catholic School.
The Home and School Association is a vital part of St. Michael Catholic School. HSA provides families with the opportunity to give of their time and talent to the school and parish community by volunteering for a variety of HSA events. Its success depends largely on the efforts of many people. Our HSA is able to be as active as we are because of the support from our St. Michael teachers and families.
HSA has five general meetings throughout the school year. The meetings are held every other month on Thursday evenings in St. Patrick Hall. These meetings give parents an opportunity to learn about what’s happening at the school. Parents are encouraged to attend, ask questions and offer ideas.
HSA coordinates signups for all volunteer activities and events. All families are required to complete 10 service hours. VIRTUS training is required for anyone that volunteers at a function where children are present. VIRTUS training sessions are held at various Catholic school parishes during the school year. St. Michael’s session is usually held in October.
